  1. I’m a big fan of the quality of the X-Wing and Armada paint jobs. They do the ships and setting justice, and put many novice mini painters to shame.

It’d be nice if games like Warmachine or 40K had prepainted minis, as it would ensure every game look thematic and characterful, as opposed to lumps of grey plastic and silver pewter. Prepaints don’t preclude you from painting the minis, but they do ensure everyone is playing with painted armies.

I also wish FFG were consistent with offering prepainted minis for its games; I’d pay a little extra per expansion for Descent or Imperial Assault if the minis came prepainted.

  2. FFG does pre-painted right. The quality of their miniatures out of the box really impressed me. I’m enticed primarily by visual cues. If I see a great looking table with well painted miniatures on it I want to see what going on. If I see unpainted or black primed crap I don’t give a shit. If other companies follow the X Wing example it improves the presentation of their product; Good gaming is good advertising.

Companies have to make the decision they want to use pre-painting as a means of selling their products to the wider audience rather than appealing to, “That Guy” who can’t be bothered with painting at all.

I have posted before and things GDub make me rather salty. I need to vent somewhere because my “gaming friends” work for these clowns and I can’t have un-KoolAided conversations about it with them. It’s like Scientologists and Amish people. It looks like Extra Credits posted a vid explaining in a more objective and entertaining manner a number of, “What is GW doing in video games?” scenarios.
