I think as long as it’s an option (like Warlord Games’ new line of pre-painted tanks) and not an all-or-nothing change (like Rackham’s disastrous switch to pre-paints) then I’m happy.
I talked with a guy who works at a moderately large miniature producing company and he told me they and some of their competitors had looked into doing prepainted models. The technology and business case is there, but most of these companies are ruled by the artists and the idea of prepainting turns their precious sculptures into toys in most of their minds and they kill the idea.
