  1. They really look phoned in. These are obviously just a low effort replacement for the current finecrap and metals. Where the hell are the dynamic poses GW?Hell I like my 3rd edition synchronised swimmers but this is 8th and for price of a Ferrari I expect a high performance head turning model update not a 1990’s Citroen with a facelift. – look to Forgeworld GW, look to forgeworld.

    • uh… pretty sure those wyches are damned dynamic.

If they give you dynamic poses you get complaints that the models don’t rank up, if they give you easily ranked models you get complaints the models are too static. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t …

      • The problem here is that we are looking two extremes instead of a happy medium. Witches are posed and modelled so far at one end of the spectrum that they don’t look good and will be problematic to rank in large units. On the other end is the Warriors box where every model is that same bull pose. They don’t look good even though they will rank easily.

An example of a dynamic post with ease of ranking would be something like Phoenix Guard or Plaguebearers.

  2. – Kharibdyss / War Hydra has either a hole at the base of its neck….. or a huge claw that prevents it from walking on the ground at all…..
    – Kharibdyss / War Hydra looks like it’s going to break apart if it hits a pebble – it looks like a theatre prop.
    – Witch Elves / Sisters of Slaughter have more mass in their hair than in their body… even more so than the new Daemonettes.

    – Dreadspears / Darkshards / Bleakswords aaactually look pretty good.

    So overall i said no.

And why do 5 whiches cost more than chosen or heavy cavalery?

  3. Kharibdyss is neat, the rest is uninspired. What’s with all the massive hair? Obviously the Dark elves have large stockpiles of Pantene Pro-V

  4. I really hate this release and by far the worst offender is the spearmen/xb/sword kit.
What REALLY prevents me from starting an army is when their default goto core choice looks like shit. Those hands! They look the same as the old shitty 90s models.

Compare with Dark Eldar who had awesome troops choices. What makes money is when players start a new army, not a veteran DE guy just buying the book. Eldar sold a lot because their whole range was awesome and lots og people that had never played them before picked them up.

    Argh!

  5. They aren’t Mongolian enough for me! And where are the white bikes and red ritual scars painted on their armor. Not a good release of you ask me.

Lol perhaps now would be a good time for Mantic games to try more dark elves? Tbh they aren’t all horrible. I mean I see pointed ears on some of them! Also who knew dark elves were from the eighties!

  6. Oh! And I guess we jumped from sculpted fire to sculpted blood drops. What happened to letting people paint effects! What’s next? Sculpted gravity lines! How else do those models stay down!

I’ve got it! The sculpters don’t think ‘eavy metal can paint right!

  7. since I can’t reply above…

frankly I don’t see it. The difference between the current phoenix guard and the new dark elf spearmen is that the spearmen hold their spears in one hand where the phoenix guard hold theirs two-handed thus giving them a slight twist to their torso. However all the models in the unit look pretty much identical and owing to the two-handed pose you end up with less modeling options since you have more hardpoints of contact engineered into the model.

      • fair enough (though I hate the plaguebearers – I think they look too much like they’re done using 3d modeling software) it all comes down to personal preference after all. besides if there’s a discussion going on worth having it isn’t this one =)
