This week Lange and Nathan answer some long overdue listener emails after talking about some newly released Forge World models. The conversation about our weekly listener poll is more a survey of the number of gamers who own Forge World. The main topic strays between conversations on the state of 6th edition 40K to Vampire-less Counts armies and how they can be played. Also! More talk about Pacific Rim and other reactions. Nipples!!

Hey dudes. Do you think you could elaborate on the “combos” that are so bad?
To me the problem isn’t really in combos, but the fact that a guy can just take a bullshit earthshaker gun carriage instead of a basalisk, for example. You pay 50 points less and get an effectively 8-wound T7 model instead of a crappy AV 12/10/10 open-topped vehicle that can be shaken, have it’s weapon destroyed, etc.
I also hate it when people say “but the majority of forge world stuff is underpowered, if anything!” Bitch please, people don’t take that shit, they just cherry pick the best stuff.
(maybe it’s just terminology, but to me ‘combos’ implies some sort of synergy)
“Combo” is a pretty loose term when it comes to wargaming. In this sense I would have to say we are referring to the ability to take unit options that you Codex would not otherwise be able to take in order to correct a weakness. Essentially creating a perfect codex where you don’t really suffer from any sort of major drawback. Tau can take heavy combat units and still shoot the piss out of everyone, Daemons can take tanks that aren’t high cost monsters with unwanted weapon options. ect ect…
