This week Nathan and Teri and joined by Steve Hall-Holt to talk about the It Came From the Basement tournament. The Listener Poll for this week is no surprise to anyone, BUT STILL INTERESTING!!! It is, fuck you Nathan. Stop trolling me while I am not there… anyways, they talk about list building with ForgeWorld and Allies and the excrement that is produced. Teri also gets drunk and swoons, but apparently that’s not special since she will swoon on anyone when she is drunk. ENJOY!!

Hey dudes. I enjoyed the episode again. I really don’t understand why you guys think the forge world abuse was so bad. From what I saw, there were really only two dudes that were rocking forge world. That said, those fuckers rocked it harrrrrrrd.
Any ideas on how you can allow forge world without allowing excessive douchebaggery? Allowing a maximum of 1-2 units? Allowing forge world LISTS only? (Although I think they have gotten away from doing proper army lists since they’ve started doing 40k approved stuff)
It’s honestly all or nothing, there’s no half way to do it. If it’s allowed, you have to expect what you’re going to get. it can and will be abused. If you leave it up to the organizers discretion on what units to allow, there’s going to be too many arguments and hurt feelings
Bottom line is, forgeworld has a lot of units that are perfectly balanced, or even under balanced… but they have a LOT of units that are grossly underpointed as well, or have way too many extra rules and special features. Even the crappy little remora fighters for tau. When they drop to hover mode, due to being a fast skimmer and having a built in shrouding cloud, they have a 3+ cover save. they’re flying gun turrets with their own marker light that can dash all over the board and shake off most of what you throw at it. You could statistically kill 2-3 stormtalons before you drop a remora.
Then there’s the problems of allies. And not only do you have units that weren’t meant to be in a book originally, but you have TWO armies put together AND extra units from forgeworld that are interacting in ways that nobody meant for, because you just can’t control that many variables
I didn’t mean that the organizers would allow only certain models, I meant that you could take 0-1 forge world unit(s). I think that wasn’t clear, but if it wasn’t, disregard this comment 🙂
This is the first event I’ve been to that really has changed my views on allowing forge world. Some people clearly have no boundaries…
